Job Description:
Job Summary
The Security Officer is responsible for protecting personnel, property, and processes at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine by controlling site access, conducting inspections, monitoring security systems, and responding to incidents. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards, as well as performing security functions at the refinery, and conducting searches.

To protect personnel, property and processes against harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Must comply with state and federal health and safety regulations, company policies and procedures, and company’s environmental compliance policy.
People
You are accountable for the actions and behavior of your team. You will:
•Clearly communicate the strategy and plans to your team, ensuring all team members understand how their activities relate to the overall objectives of the mine site and corporate vision.
•Verify that your team members have the right tools to perform their jobs effectively.
•Provide timely and constructive feedback to your team, clearly explaining any required follow-up actions.
•Offer ongoing recognition and coaching to your subordinates, acknowledging achievements and process improvements through verbal communication and other motivational incentive programs.
•Ensure that all subordinates are properly inducted and possess the required skills, training, and knowledge to carry out their roles effectively and safely.
•Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action.
•The ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
Key Deliverables
•Provide professional and courteous service, demonstrating strong interpersonal and phone skills, computer proficiency, and maintaining a clean work environment.
•Control site access (entry/exit) for employees, visitors, and contractors, including verifying credentials and ensuring compliance with entry procedures.
•Manage and maintain site access systems, including creating access badges for contractors and new employees.
•Ensure all site entrants meet training requirements; organize and document training for new hires and contractors.
•Conduct regular inspections of vehicles, property, and high-security areas to detect unauthorized items or situations.
•Monitor refinery security systems, respond to alarms, and perform security functions as required.
•Monitor site cameras and conduct daily checks (rounds) of all occupied and unoccupied areas, reporting suspicious activities or personnel to the appropriate supervisor.
•Conduct searches of freight, vehicles, luggage, and packages entering or leaving the site.
•Support investigations of criminal acts.
•Respond to emergency calls, handle emergency situations, and follow security policies and procedures.
•Maintain proficiency in access control procedures, CCTV monitoring, computerized scales, and computer systems.
•Attend and participate in drug searches, D&A testing, and attend room clean-outs.
•May attend gold transfers.
•Communicate facility and work area status updates to the incoming shift.
•Submit activity reports as required.
•Assist Security Systems Technicians as needed.
•Be willing and able to work overtime, adapt to schedule changes, and respond promptly to emergency callouts.
•May assist with safeguarding facilities, equipment, materials, and employee property.
Working Conditions & Location
•Position based in the United States at the Cripple Creek & Victor Mine, located in Teller County Colorado.
•Ability to alter work schedule when required.
•Must be able to work at high altitude.
For applicants residing in CO, the hourly range for this role is from $23-$35.
