Security Officer
Summary of Position
This position is responsible for the overall security and protection of the Ocean Point Terminals facility, its employees, assets and residents in accordance with established security regulations. The position holder will perform shift duties such as access control at fixed posts, roving patrols of Ocean Point Terminals properties, and enforcement of existing policies, procedures, and rules. Additionally, the position will be required to maintain logs, write reports, investigate incidents and traffic accidents, direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic, and respond to calls for assistance.
Qualifications
•High school diploma or equivalent is required.
•Two years of security experience preferred.
•Prior law enforcement, military or industrial security experience is preferred.
•Must possess a high level of customer service and demonstrates professionalism at all times.
•Knowledge of security regulations and protocols relevant to port facility operations is highly desirable (e.g. Maritime Transportation Security Act, Facility Security Plans).
•Ability and willingness to work extended hours, nights, rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends when required.
•Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and effectively carry out assigned duties.
•Ability to perform under pressure, adapt to adverse conditions and inclement weather, and consistently meet deadlines.
•Ability to understand, interpret and apply policies, procedures, and rules as they pertain to the Ocean Point Terminals facility.
•Strong ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
•Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
•Readiness and ability to respond to the facility on short notice in emergency situations.
•Ability to obtain, or currently possess, a valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
Physical Requirements
•Work is generally in field setting.
•Must be able to climb stairs, stand for extended periods, and possess sufficient strength and stamina requires to execute security related duties including board vessels, escort personnel in and around facility, and use of non-lethal force when required.
•Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull items, reach overhead, stoop and squat.
•Ability to wear applicable personal protective equipment to prevent against exposure to dust, fumes, or chemicals and loud noises.
•Ability to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat.
