The Site Engineering and Analysis Department is currently growing to respond to the needs of our nuclear portfolio including Bruce Power, OPG, New Brunswick Power and Cernavoda, among others. We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic leader for our Section Manager, Structural Integrity role. The position provides an opportunity to lead a specialized team of engineers and designers and to manage a diverse portfolio of stress analysis activities through technical oversight of these professionals on various client projects.
Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
Working closely with the Director, Site Engineering and Analysis, you will be responsible for the following key technical aspects for the Leadership of Structural Integrity section:
•Oversight of stress analysis activities including:
•Understanding and assessing client problems to determine appropriate means of solution.
•Interfacing effectively with design team, equipment group and testing group to provide practical and effective solutions as per project requirements.
•Conducting technical assessments and emergent troubleshooting/engineering to support station engineering requests, refurbishment projects and operating unit (capital) projects.
•Solid working knowledge in the following areas:
•Finite element analysis using ANSYS Mechanical
•Carrying out nuclear (Class 1/2/3) and conventional (Class 6) piping analysis using commercial software packages such as PIPESTRESS or AutoPIPE.
•Assessing fluid dynamic problems such as flow induced vibrations or water hammer using software such as ANSYS CFX and AFT Impulse.
•Supporting fitness for service assessments per API579 guidelines.
•Acting as the relevant software QA primary holder or delegate as required within the section following Nuclear QA Standards such as CSA N286.7.
•Working with PMs within the department to deliver quality deliverables to our clients on time and within budget. Commit to providing timely and effective support to nuclear power stations as operational needs arise, ensuring responsiveness to urgent and evolving project requirements.
•Working knowledge of relevant Codes and Standards including but not limited to CSA N285, N289, ASME Section III, Section VIII and B31.1, staying current with developments within their field of expertise including latest codes.
•Lead the Kinectrics internal ASME Appendix XXIII NCA-4000 qualification program.
•Demonstrated knowledge of CANDU technology, strong understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation. Experience with CANDU and C6 refurbishment specifically Feeder and Fuel Channel replacement and assembly design employing GD&T is considered an asset.
•Identify opportunities for synergy & integration with other Kinectrics service line offerings.
•Manage quality processes and ensure best practices are followed through HU tools.

Financial
•Ensure business systems are updated and accurate, including revenue forecasts.
•Manage and motivate assigned staff and team members, achieving effective utilization of resources and prioritization. Ensure effective facility management, work allocation and safe operations.
•Accomplish financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual operations budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
•Supports Director with maintaining service line profit and loss, material cost, labour, and bottom-line results.
Culture Development:
•Drives a culture of high performance and safety where everyone is committed to and accountable for delivery of performance goals and operational KPIs, ensuring a client first culture.
•Provides training and skill development for both day-to-day operations as well as for growth and improved performance.

What You Need to Succeed
Education & Technical Competencies:
•A bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering. Professional Engineer of Ontario (PEO), or eligible for PEO status, with a passion for engineering.
•8+ years’ relevant work experience, with preference given relevant prior mechanical design assist analyses as well as site & management experience in the nuclear industry.
•Familiarity with nuclear industry requirements for stress analysis and design engineering.
•Involvement in ASME and CSA N285 or ASME Section III technical code committees will be considered an asset.
•Strong understanding of nuclear power plant design and operation.
•Excellent understanding of Kinectrics Quality Assurance requirements and applicable industry codes and standards.
