THE ROLE:

The position of Seasonal Labourer isresponsible for performing general labour support for the long-term care and maintenance (C&M) activities at various projects primarily on closed mine sites in the Elliot Lake area.

This is a 4-month contract position based in Elliot Lake, Ontario. This role is expected to start on or around May 5, 2025, with a competitive hourly wage and the possible opportunity for contract extension.

Additional qualifications and attributes include:

High school diploma required.
1-2 years demonstrated experience working in a mine or industrial site strongly preferred.
Basic proficiency using computers and technology required, specifically Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, accompanied by the willingness to learn new skills and technology as required.
Reliable, punctual, self-motivated and able to work both independently and in a team environment.
An ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and recommend solutions.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
Good interpersonal skills that promote safe, collaborative, and inclusive relationships with colleagues, vendors, and contractors.
Exhibits an uncompromising commitment to always working safely, and reporting and resolving hazards or unsafe conditions immediately.
Willing and able to carry out physical duties associated with this role, including but not limited to being able to lift up to 50 lbs, engage in recurring bending or similar activities, hike several kilometres on uneven ground while carrying a 7kg backpack, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Possession of a Drivers’ License that is valid and in good standing is required.
Ability to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and assigned.


YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:


Equipment & Field Operations:

Carry out brush and/or snow removal, clearing of beaver dams, and road maintenance activities.
Perform various building maintenance activities as needed and required.
Clean, inspect, organize, and maintain vehicles, equipment, power tools, pumps, and generators in good repair.
Willing to learn to operate Effluent Treatment Plants and Water Sampling
Transport reagents and clean reagent tanks as required.
Safely and effectively operate various hand and power tools.
Organize and maintain field supplies, including sample bottles, measuring tools, and safety gear.
Operate, maintain, and calibrate field monitoring equipment and testing devices as trained and assigned.
Participate in site maintenance, including plant upkeep, dam slope care, and minor repairs.


Documentation & Reporting:

Complete field reports, and Workplace Hazard Analysis (WHA) forms.
Conduct pre-operational checks of light vehicles, completing daily reports and logbooks as required.
Contribute to internal/external reports and SOP development.
Complete various logs and checklists as required.


Health, Safety & Collaboration:

Adhere to health, safety, and environmental protocols.
Work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors.
Ensure tasks comply with company policies, environmental regulations, and best safety practices.


The successful candidate shall also:

Perform other duties as assigned.* Carry out the responsibilities of this site-based position on a Monday to Friday schedule.* Participate in on-call support as required.* Understand that regular job duties are performed across a large physical area in the vicinity of the operation; Operating passenger vehicles, all-terrain vehicles, and boats is a requirement for this position.* Be comfortable working independently and at times work in remote locations with a partner.* Understand that this role is subject to background verification checks as part of the pre-employment screening process and as required thereafter in accordance with company policy.* Be legally authorized to work in Canada.*
