We’re looking for a Sales Engineer – Electrical Engineering to join our growing technical team. In this role, you’ll serve as a strategic account manager and technical expert in electrical engineering services, including controls and relay upgrades, engineering studies, arc-flash analysis, and more. You’ll work cross-functionally to support sales, deliver technical guidance to customers, and drive new revenue opportunities across the country.
- Manage strategic accounts, providing both pre-sales and post-sales technical support
- Follow up with existing customers and vendors to identify new business opportunities
- Act as the subject matter expert on electrical engineering services for both internal teams and clients
- Provide quote support by developing scope, labor estimates, and cost details for proposals, working alongside inside sales to ensure technical accuracy and completeness where specialized engineering input is required
- Train sales representatives on our engineering capabilities and technical offerings
- Support the outside sales team with job walk-throughs, quoting, cost analysis, and deal tracking
- Gather technical documentation, including engineering drawings and site photos, to develop custom-engineered solutions
- Conduct customer site visits to assess needs and offer technical expertise
- Collaborate with the Service team to resolve issues, monitor reports, and suggest improvements
- Develop and maintain design specifications, proposals, and service agreements
- Deliver presentations and proposals to address technical challenges and improve efficiency
- Work with service, sourcing, engineering, and quality teams to resolve technical matters
- Contribute to sales strategy by offering technical and market insight
- Ensure all technical work complies with industry standards and customer requirements
- Assist in contract negotiations, clarifying technical terms, and deliverables- 5+ years of experience in technical sales, preferably in power systems or electrical engineering
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Experience in training sales teams and supporting clients with complex technical solutions
- Strong communicator with excellent presentation, negotiation, and organizational skills
- Capable of conveying technical value to customers with clarity and professionalism
- Confidently managing multiple sales efforts in parallel and maintaining strong client relationships
- Analytically minded with an ability to monitor competitor trends and propose new solutions
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field preferred; additional experience considered
- Valid and current driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Willing and able to travel between 35% to 50% depending on the time of the year, including overnight stays as needed
- Flexible to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights when required
- NETA Level 2, 3, or 4 certification
- Experience in controls, relay upgrades, or arc-flash and coordination studies
- Technical field experience in power systems
- Participation in client-facing sales presentations or technical conferences
