Essential Functions Statements Serve customers by selling products and meeting customer needs. Contact new or existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors. Emphasize product features based on analysis of customers' needs and on technical knowledge of product capabilities and limitations. Adjust content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factors. Focus sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers. Submit orders by referring to price lists and product literature. Keep management informed by submitting activity and result reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans and monthly and annual territory analysis. Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, delivery schedules and merchandising techniques. Recommend changes in products, services and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments. Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports and making recommendations to management. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participate in professional societies. Complete expense reports, sales reports or other paperwork. Obtain building blueprint or specifications for use by engineering departments in bid preparations. Coordinate customer returns and complete proper documentation on a timely basis. Collaborate with colleagues to exchange information, such as selling strategies or marketing information. Develop an effective and productive working relationship with sales team members and support personnel. Attend sales or trade meetings or read related publications to obtain information about market conditions, business trade, environmental regulations or industry developments.
