Performs technical or professional tasks in order to support the overarching goals of the safety department.
Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or six months to one year related experience and/or training preferably in OSHA related standards; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
Up to 50% travel to other GMI locations for meetings, training, inspections, etc.
Ability to read, write legibly and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Crane license, forklift license (may be obtained during first 3 months of employment). GMI, Inc. unique training may be obtained during first 3 months of employment. Additional training will be provided as a part of Continuous Improvement and job position development.

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. The employee is required to operate overhead crane in cabin attached to the crane at the height of approximately 28 feet from the ground. A person with acrophobia may not be qualified.

The employee should have basic knowledge of PowerPoint, Excel, and all Microsoft software. They should possess the ability to proof read documents and presentations and self-correct as needed.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet, humid, extreme cold, and extreme heat conditions. The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.
The employee will be required to wear protective clothing, gloves, hard hat, and respirator, as specified in the various processes and/or instructions. The employee will also be required to wear safety shoes and safety glasses.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
NOTE: This position could be a problem for someone with an acute allergy condition.
