About the Role:
This position is intended to support the safety and environmental regulatory compliance work groups. Duties may include, but will not be limited to: conducting research and drafting concise summaries on safety and environmental issues, regulations, and technologies; assisting with the development of procedures, spreadsheets, job aids, and training materials; assisting with or conducting field assignments, site visits, facility audits, and inspections; assisting with the development of event materials; and conducting administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and data analysis. Other projects, tasks, and duties will be assigned as needed.
Qualifications Physical Requirements:
Works primarily in an office setting, but regular field visits and activities required. Requires bending, stooping, some lifting, working in awkward and strenuous positions at times, and mobility over rough terrain. The physical demands above are intended to relate to the approximate physical demands of the classification.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be and maintain full-time student status of an accredited college or university pursuing an Associates, Bachelors, or a graduate-level degree
- Have and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher
- Must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Good oral and written communication
- Excellent attention to detail
- Must possess basic computer skills
- Valid driver's license
- Pursuing a Bachelors or advanced degree in Safety, Environmental Sciences, Geography or other related science or engineering degree from an accredited college or university
- Ability to write reports, summaries, and articles that require minimal review
- Experience with using MS Office, Microstation, AutoCad, and/or Geographical Information Systems (Intergraph and/or ESRI)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
