The Environmental Permitting and Support (EPS) Unit is seeking a Geologist or Engineer for evaluation of moderately complex compliance data for the newly formed Compliance Team that will focus on monitoring, compliance, and enforcement activities at oil and gas waste management facilities regulated by the Railroad Commission of Texas. This position will work to report directly to the Environmental Compliance Manager and will work closely with the Manager of the EPS Unit and the Environmental Compliance Manager for this team.
EPS is in the Technical Permitting Section of the Oil and Gas Division. Duties require knowledge of engineering and geological principles, practices and techniques necessary to to evaluate compliance and monitoring of permitted facilities associated with surface management of oil and gas waste. Work involves processing moderately complex compliance and monitoring reports, evaluating other technical information, coordinating with and participating in inspections with the District Offices, and assisting clients. Successful applicants must be highly organized, profecient in conducting inspections and investigations in the field, proficient in engineering and geological principles, and able to work with Windows-based applications and/or terminal-based systems and databases. Excellent verbal, written and telecommunication skills are necessary to effectively work with internal and external customers of various backgrounds and skill sets.

Knowledge of engineering and data analysis techniques and theories.

Skill in technical writing, excellent organizational skills and maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and good driving record.
Skill in using databases, mainframe, Microsoft Office, and other Windows-based software applications.
Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated skill in working on tasks requiring meticulous attention to detail and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Demonstrated ability to retrieve and analyze information from hard copy files, microfilm and computer database(s).
