The Railroad Commission of Texas regulates the use of alternative fuels. These alternative fuels are liquefied petroleum gas (LP-gas, propane), compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). The Oversight and Safety Division is seeking an Administrative Assistant to perform complex administrative support work in the Commission’s alternative fuels department (AFS). Job duties involve handling main line phone queues; distributing correspondence and documents; allocating payments received; responding to open record requests, including internal and external inquiries; processing administrative actions resulting from inspections; updating the AFS portion of the agency website; maintaining data entry into a Salesforce application; processing certification renewals and performing a broad variety of administrative assistance as assigned. Work is performed under the general supervision of the AFS Licensing and Compliance Manager with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

- Distribute correspondence and documents.
- Allocate payments received.
- Screen and field incoming calls with professionalism.
- Process administrative actions resulting from inspections.
- Respond to open record requests regarding alternative fuels, including internal and external inquiries.
- Update the AFS portion of the agency website.
- Process certification renewals.
- Process travel requisitions and vouchers.
- Manage process documentation and data entry into a Salesforce application.
- Perform a broad variety of administrative assistance as assigned.
- Assist with:
- Data entry of AFS forms.
- Running and tracking reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

- High school diploma or GED.
- 2 years of experience in administrative support work or customer service or clerical work in a professional office practice.
- Experience and education may be substituted for each other on a year for year basis.
- Must be able to work Monday through Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM.
- Experience with the Salesforce Application or similar CRM databases high preferred.
- Experience in data entry.
- Experience in processing open record requests.
- Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM databases.
- Demonstrates excellent organizational, communication and writing skills.
- Proficiency in the use of computer systems utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
- Ability to maintain working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

- Proficiency in the use of a computer and applicable software necessary to perform work assignments.
- Microsoft Word and skill in Excel and other tools for data collection.
- Experience with Salesforce, or similar software tools.
- Must be able to learn new systems quickly.
Work Hours: Standard office hours for Commission employees are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Our agency offers alternate schedules for employees, as long as it does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained. Alternate work schedules may be discussed with the hiring manager during the interview process.
