The Marathon Canton Refinery located in Canton, OH, is seeking an experienced Routine Maintenance Scheduler. Duties include developing and managing a schedule for Routine Maintenance activities at the site. This position will manage resources and priorities to produce a 7-day frozen executable schedule, a 14-day soft schedule and a 12 week look-ahead schedule. This position would also ensure that all Routine Maintenance schedules are created and managed for all stakeholders. The hours of the position are a 4/10 schedule Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM. This role will periodically support overtime work, weekends, and turnarounds/outages, as required. Support on-call 4-6 weeks per year and support and respond to off-hour situations, as required.
Specific areas of responsibility include (but are not limited to):
- Leads daily/weekly scheduling meetings with routine maintenance and operations to develop and maintain the maintenance schedule.
- Creates daily/weekly schedule using SAP/Prometheus.
- Creates and tracks monthly, quarterly and yearly look ahead schedules.
- Maintain accurate workforce headcounts within SAP work centers and Shift Updater.
- Review and validate all materials are on-site before work is scheduled to be executed.
- Interface with numerous MPC/contract planners to assure their plans are per MPC standards.
- Creates and maintains PM maintenance plans
- Monitors PM compliance reports to track coming due PMs and prevent any from becoming overdue.
- Monitors and maintains PM manpower leveling
- Creates daily/weekly break-in (Emergency and Priority 1) work reports
- Review KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and work with stakeholders on areas of improvement (schedule adherence, productivity, resource utilization, schedule breakers, etc.).
- Participates in the Workflow Improvement Team
- Check work orders for proper user status, revision code, order basic start date in preparation for creating weekly work schedule.
- Review preventive and corrective work orders to make sure planned steps are logically tied with relationships and have the required craft and man-hours to perform the work.
- Work with area planners to ensure proper coding is assigned to the WO for scheduling.
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. (Education must be obtained/completed prior to start date)
- Must be proficient in Computer Based Program System for planning OR scheduling (SAP preferred).
- Must have at least 3 years of maintenance craft in a refinery or heavy industry with planning or scheduling experience via computers OR 3 years of maintenance planning, scheduling and leading experience via computers in a refinery or heavy related industry OR an Associate’s degree in an Engineering Technology, Information Systems Technology, Construction Management and 2 years of crafts/planning/scheduling experience in a refinery or heavy related industry OR Bachelors degree in Engineering Technology, Information Systems Technology, Construction Management or closely related field.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must have strong organizational, planning, critical thinking, and communication skills. With the ability to manage competing priorities in dynamic refining environment.
- Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in the refinery (respirator), be able to physically perform all tasks in the field and take hair drug test and physical.
- Must have valid driver’s license. (MPC determines valid status.)
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without the need for future VISA sponsorship
- Travel Requirement is 5% or less.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering or Construction Management and 2 years of experience in planning and scheduling via computers for Routine Maintenance, projects or turnarounds is preferred.
- SAP experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with Prometheus Scheduler is preferred.
Grade: This position is posted as a Grade 10-11. Other grade levels may be considered pending candidate experience.
