Position Summary
The Route Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all assigned routes, drivers, and helpers at the depot location. This position acts as a liaison between upper management and drivers, ensuring compliance with company policies, maintaining a safe work environment, and ensuring efficient daily operations.
Key Responsibilities
•Supervision: Oversee drivers and helpers, ensuring routes are completed efficiently and safely.
•Safety & Compliance: Investigate and remove unsafe conditions, conduct safety training, and enforce adherence to safety standards and DOT regulations.
•Training & Development: Plan and execute training programs for new drivers, including orientation and on-the-job training.
•Route Optimization: Maximize route efficiency by proactively identifying and addressing obstacles such as hazards or route inefficiencies.
•Employee Management: Approve timecards, assist with disciplinary actions, conduct performance reviews, and provide coaching as needed.
•Operational Support: Maintain communication with drivers through radio dispatch, assist in road tests for new drivers, and fill in for absent drivers as needed.
•Customer Service: Respond to and resolve customer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
•Special Projects: Collaborate with other departments on special projects like cleanups, parades, and community events.
Minimum Qualifications
•Education: High school diploma or GED.
•Experience: Minimum of 3 years of route delivery experience, with supervisory experience preferred.
•Licensing: Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
•Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal).
•Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.
•Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
•Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ADP.
Preferred Qualifications
•Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
•Experience: Supervisory experience in the solid waste industry.
Physical Requirements
•Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions.
•Occasional industrial lifting, waist-high lifting, and brisk movement.
•Frequent walking, reaching, and use of hands for handling equipment and communicating.
