Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shop Foreman to supervise the day-to-day cladding operations which involve layering and forming sheet metal, aluminum coverings over top of our manufactured products. THIS POSITION IS INDOORS.
The ideal candidate will possess previous roofing and flashing experience with metal forming, framing and cladding, including insulation.
Responsibilities
•Supervise and direct a team with the daily activities on the floor.
•Assist Manager with optimizing operational efficiency on the floor.
•Ensure smooth workflow during each shift.
•Check work for quality and accuracy.
•Enforce safety protocols and advise Manager when safety practices are not being followed.
•Foster a positive work environment, promoting teamwork and inclusivity.
•Align with management to optimize production processes to maximize plant performance, while minimizing waste.
•Work in a safe manner, leading by example and promoting a strong safety culture within the team.
•Participate in safety programs and initiatives, including assisting in accident investigations and reporting, and serving on the Safety Committee.
•Update Manager on production and operational issues as required.
•Assist with shipping and receiving.
•Back up for all roles within team and assist where needed.
•All other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
•Previous roofing and flashing experience (metal forming - working with aluminum or other metal cladding, including insulation and/or aluminum framing).
•Experience as a team lead, or supervisor with the confidence to lead and instruct others.
•Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and engage a team.
•Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
•Keen attention to detail and ability to complete duties in an efficient and timely manner.
•Good organizational and problem-solving abilities.
•Valid G drivers’ license.
•Familiar with safety regulations and quality control standards.
•Experience operating a forklift. Having current certification is an asset.
•Experience operating overhead crane equipment.
•Experience having served on a Safety Committee is an asset.
•Ability to lift and handle heavy objects, including continuous standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing for 8-hour shift.
