This is a field-based position that requires frequent travel to mine sites, drilling operations, and customer facilities throughout the Southwest U.S. region. Overnight travel may be required up to 70% of the time.
The Service Technician Drilling Products is responsible for providing technical service, maintenance, and support for Boart Longyear's rock drilling tools and equipment in the field. This role ensures optimal product performance and customer satisfaction by performing inspections, troubleshooting, and hands-on repairs of tooling and drilling consumables. The
technician works closely with sales, engineering, and product teams to support field trials, resolve product issues, and improve customer operations.
Perform on-site inspections and repairs of drilling consumables, including percussive tooling, rods, core barrels, and diamond bits.
Troubleshoot and analyze tooling and bit performance in various drilling environments and recommend improvements to reduce downtime and increase productivity.
Train customer crews on best practices for handling, installing, and maintaining Boart Longyear drilling products.
Assist in setup and monitoring of field trials for new products; collect data and provide performance feedback.
Complete detailed service reports and submit customer feedback to internal teams for continuous product improvement.
Maintain accurate inventory of service kits and tools; ensure all equipment is in good working condition for field use.
Hands-on mechanical ability to assemble, inspect, and troubleshoot drilling equipment.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with drilling crews and supervisors in highpressure environments.
Use problem-solving skills to assess wear patterns, performance failures, and recommend corrective actions.
Flexible and able to work in diverse field environments including remote sites, mining operations, and variable weather.
Efficiently plan service trips, complete documentation, and manage time independently in the field.
Demonstrates a strong awareness and adherence to safety procedures and PPE requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical or mechanical certification preferred.
2+ years of experience in field service, drilling operations, or tooling maintenance.
Experience with percussive or rotary drilling consumables preferred.
Field-based in mining, construction, or drilling environments; may be exposed to noise, dust, grease, and weather extremes.
Must be able to lift and carry equipment or tooling up to 75 lbs regularly. Includes kneeling, climbing, and working in confined areas.
