We are currently hiring a Robot / Maintenance Technician for our Mississauga facility.
The Robot / Maintenance Technician will be working within and supporting a team environment using good communication and interpersonal skills.
To be successful in the role, an individual must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to program, troubleshoot, monitor robots (Yaskawa, Motoman. Fanuc) and factory machinery, as well as robotic / manual weld machines.
The Robot Technician will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Program, maintain and troubleshoot robots, and robotic weld machines.
•Test production machines and equipment.
•Operates basic machinery, and performs basic setups.
•Positions parts in jigs or fixtures, on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along with layout marks.
•Selects torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.
•Connects regulator valves and hoses to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders and welding torch.
•Turns regulator valves to activate the flow of gases, lights torch and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain the desired flame.
•Responsible for preventative maintenance on robots and robotic weld machines.
•Participate in machinery installation, repair and maintenance.
•Lifts workpieces manually or using hoist and secures workpieces in fixture.
•Starts machine and observes operation.
•Inspects and measures welded workpieces to verify conformance to specifications.
•Moves robot controls and guides to adjust robots.
•Replaces worn machine accessories such as weld tips or nozzles.
•Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
•Repairs broken /cracked metal objects, fills holes and builds metal parts Cleans/degreases parts.
•Understands how to use measurement tools (Calipers, tape, fillet weld gages, protractor) to ensure accuracy.
•Aware of, and properly uses light guards, emergency stops, etc. for safe machine operation.
•Follows and comply with all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs (i.e. IATF, ISO 14001)
•Ability to travel from time to time and performs other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
· College education in robotics and Industrial Automation
· 2-3 years’ experience in maintenance of robots
· Understanding of general welding theory / practical welding (ITW/Hobart or similar/equivalent)
· Robot programming course (Motoman or similar/equivalent)
· Well versed in the operation and interaction of robots within a cell structure and their component processes including pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical and electronic
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints / detailed drawings
· Experience within a fabrication environment would be an asset
· In the habit of working in a busy and complex environment, staying calm under pressure
Excellent command of the English language, verbal and written
