Job Summary
Responsible for helping the rear load truck driver pickup trash on a residential garbage route. The helper is expected to act and communicate in a professional manner when engaging with customers, co-workers, and others.
Ability to effectively interact with customers and co-workers on a daily basis, able to work at a stable pace, aware of surroundings especially parked cars, moving cars, pedestrians, and children, able to work on feet for long periods.
Use of both feet for climbing into and out of the truck, walking, squatting, use of both arms and hands for pushing/pulling garbage carts on routes, able to pick-up garbage bags/boxes and other refuse material, able to carry a garbage carrying can in cases where service is back yard, able to pick-up garbage cans on a continuous basis (cans are usually between 30 – 60 lbs), able to work on feet for an entire shift.
Must wear the proper personal protective equipment including safety vest, work boots, and gloves.
