We are seeking a Technical Field Staff Inspector for our Residential Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) program. This role focuses on field inspections of energy efficiency installations—evaluating technical compliance with Scope of Work (SOW) and modeled energy savings, verifying measure performance through diagnostic testing, and ensuring customer safety and satisfaction.
Location: Atlanta Metro and North Georgia Region, including Augusta, Macon, Milledgeville, and surrounding areas.
- Conduct on-site and desktop inspections of energy efficiency upgrades including HVAC, insulation, air sealing, and other residential measures.
- Perform diagnostic and safety testing such as:Blower Door Tests, CAZ (Combustion Appliance Zone) Testing for safety, Infrared Thermometer Scans, Insulation Depth Measurement and R-value calculation.
- Verify installations against the approved Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure accuracy, measure completeness, and workmanship standards.
- Conduct customer interviews to validate satisfaction and gather insights.
- Capture geo-tagged photos of installations and field conditions.
- Record inspection results using Microsoft-based tools and submit standardized inspection worksheets (pass/fail scoring).
- Identify safety hazards or installation deficiencies; escalate urgent issues to the program team.
- Work with QA/QC Lead to draft and deliver Correction Reports for failed inspections.
- Coordinate re-inspections, verify that corrections have been made, and update documentation accordingly.
- Collaborate with contractors to provide technical feedback and ensure corrective actions are clearly understood and implemented.
- Identify additional opportunities for efficiency upgrades or customer support aligned with the program's goals.
- Maintain consistent documentation, data accuracy, and process transparency across all inspection activities.
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in construction, energy efficiency, HVAC, or related field.
- Working knowledge of building science, residential retrofit measures, and combustion safety protocols.
- At least 1 year of field inspection or energy auditing experience.
- Strong attention to detail in technical environments.
- Comfortable with diagnostic equipment and MS Office 365 tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to work independently, travel to multiple field locations daily using a personal vehicle (mileage reimbursement provided).
- BPI certifications (e.g., Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Infiltration & Duct Leakage).
- Familiarity with QA/QC processes in utility programs.
- Hands-on experience performing blower door tests and CAZ safety diagnostics.
- Experience coordinating with field teams, trade contractors, or QA leads.
- Experience documenting findings in QA/QC tracking software or custom inspection portals.
