General Summary of Position: Under the direction of the Tool Pusher, the Operator is responsible for monitoring and maintaining procedures of the daily operations of the rig while making sure that work is carried out in compliance with company policies and procedures and according to safety regulations. The Operator is responsible for operating the rig and supervising the crew members while ensuring safe and productive services to maintain quality customer service.
- Must be able to complete and pass all of the following:
- Drug Screening
- Fit for Duty Functional test
- Audiogram
- Criminal Motor Vehicle Record Background
- Responsible for Responsible for rigging up and down (For example, raise and lower the derrick, pull the guy wires tight with the winch line, ensure rig is leveled and jacks secured)
- Supervise and delegate tasks to crew members
- Pull and lay down rods, tubing, casing, and other equipment as needed
- Operate the power swivel and crown and floor saver
- Assist in pipe tallying, pipe handling, and nipple up and down of BOP units
- Perform BOP inspection and testing as needed
- Assist in perform hydro testing as required
- Ability to rig up and down and operate mud pump and tank
- Responsible for keeping equipment, work site, dog house and tools clean and in good working order
- Assist in the daily inspection and maintenance of equipment and tools which may include cleaning, greasing, oil changes and other duties assigned
- Drives the crew truck and operates equipment
- Responsible for promoting and monitoring safety behaviors which includes leading the daily JSA and routine safety meetings as scheduled
- Checks brake systems and confirms functionality
- Troubleshoot equipment maintenance issues; to include performing worn equipment checks and communicate repair or replacement of equipment as needed
- Ability to understand Hazard ID cards and near miss cards, as well as follow standard operating procedure for completion of cards
- Responsible to stop work if conditions are unsafe and report concerns and incidents immediately per the standard operating procedures
- Communicate with company men to ensure customer satisfaction
- Communicate with Tool Pushers, HSE, Operations and Human Resources regarding any issues that arise with equipment, safety, or personnel issues
- Complete all safety forms such as near misses, Hazard ID’s, vehicle inspections, and other forms as needed
- Accurately completes field tickets and turns them in for processing
- Assists in training and mentoring trainees, floorhands, derrickhands and relief operators on day to day operations
- May be required to work floors or derricks when applicable
- May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
- Ability to work in a team setting
- Competent communication skills, both verbal and written in English in order to understand and give instructions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once
- Leadership skills, ability to delegate tasks and manage
- Availability to work beyond 8-hour work day; available to work weekends and holidays if needed
- Minimum three years of workover rig experience preferred

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach and move about rig location
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, such as rain and extreme heat and cold

- May be required to work at significant heights up to or greater than 50 feet
