Reliability Engineer, Senior – Power Delivery Systems and Standards Reports to: Brenden Love Work Location: Based in Metro Atlanta, travel required within state of Georgia NOTE: You must currently live in Metro Atlanta or be willing to quickly relocate. This position is responsible for performing technical evaluations of distributed energy resources (DER) that will interconnect with the Electric Power Distribution system. These evaluations will involve both exporting and non-exporting generation sites, such as renewables and standby generation. To maintain the safe and reliable operation of our system, this position will be responsible for ensuring upstream protection schemes are optimized and all distributed generation (DG) interconnections comply with Southern Company requirements. In addition to reviewing and approving customer DG applications & designs, this position will confirm operational conformance by performing witness testing of DER relays & control schemes.

The successful candidate will also assist with statewide reliability initiatives such as system improvement projects, asset management projects, and event analysis as needed. Effective communication skills are essential as this position is required to work with external customers, contractors and various internal organizations, such as local operating personnel, Renewables, Distribution Automation, Distribution Planning, Metering, Sales and Customer Service. This position will also be expected to assist with storm restoration efforts as needed.
