September 2, 2025: First Day of School
School Year Schedule: 8:30am-3:30pm (includes a half-hour unpaid lunch) Mon/Tues/Thurs/Friday and 8:30am-2:15pm (includes a half-hour unpaid lunch) on Wednesdays = 31.25 hours/week
Summary: Under the direction of a teacher, assist students by working with individuals and/or small groups, i.e., math, reading, journals, computer lab, library, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
•Supervise students and be responsible for children’s well-being and safety when entering/leaving buildings, hallways, playgrounds, lunchrooms, bus lines, parking lots, or when on a field trip.
•Provide care and instruction of students in the absence of a teacher for a limited time or during emergency situations.
•Assists in student assessments
•Assists in the gathering and preparation of materials to be used by students in group, individual and learning center activities
•Act as an office assistant or in any other capacity as requested by administration
Qualifications
Key Skills and Abilities:
•Work effectively, collaboratively, and positively with students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and parents/guardians.
•Work with students using a variety of instructional strategies and adjust methods to needs of students.
•Maintain a sense of humor and use a positive and supportive approach when working with students.
•Gather and organize learning materials to be used by students.
•Perform individual and small group instruction.
•Use positive reinforcement and appropriate disciplinary techniques.
•To work independently and sometimes in a stressful environment.
•Maintain confidentiality of materials.
•To think quickly, maintain self-control and adapt to sometimes stressful or difficult situations with students
•Administer immediate basic first aid
•Operate all types of office equipment.
•Read and interpret documents such as district policies and procedures, handbooks, manuals and computer manuals.
•Proctor individual and school-wide tests.
•Produce monthly newsletters, recognition booklets, awards booklets, programs, flyers and handbooks.
•Install programs and plugins in lab computers.
•Process new books, magazines and newspapers into library system.
•Participate in professional development opportunities
•Excellent computer skills
•Intermediate level mastery of MS Word and Excel
•Skillful at searching the internet
•Knowledge of first line technical support for hardware and software
Desired Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Education, Certificates, Licenses and Training):
•Minimum of five years working with children
•Excellent communications skills, written and verbal.
•Must be able to prioritize and exhibit sound problem solving abilities.
•Must have strong organizational skills.
•Must be able to work independently as well as within a team.
•Experience in a school district setting is highly desirable.
