In this role, you'll be on the frontlines of the U.S. power industry, collaborating with clients and teams to support a wide variety of projects, including wind, solar, and BESS installations. You'll play a pivotal part in shaping the future of our safety program and culture, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and best practices, and continually advancing operational excellence.
Build and maintain professional relationships with EPCS leadership, construction project teams, client safety staffs, and subcontractor partners, championing a culture of shared safety responsibility.
Instruct, train, and mentor EPCS staff on internal and client safety requirements and best practices. Develop, implement, and update Project-Specific Safety Plans, ensuring safety standards are effectively executed.
Conduct field observations and coaching sessions for project staff and subcontractor employees, proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen our safety performance and culture across diverse project portfolios.
Regularly engage with the EPCS Corporate Safety Manager and Vice President of Field Operations and Quality to share insights on field conditions, safety performance and emerging trends, and ways to elevate our overall safety culture.
Prepare and facilitate safety calls for project teams and subcontractors, provide guidance on incident management protocols, and contribute to strategic planning to improve the safe execution of project tasks.
Implement and manage our tablet-based field safety observation and management tool, ensuring efficient tracking and documentation of safety practices and leading and lagging indicators to identify trends on our projects.
Travel ½ to ¾ time by air and vehicle to observe, coach, train, and audit various projects is required.
A Master's degree in a safety-related field plus 3+ years of construction safety management experience in high voltage or ET&D; OR
A Bachelor's degree in a safety-related field plus 5+ years of construction safety management experience in high voltage or ET&D; OR
10+ years of professional construction safety management experience in high voltage or ET&D, along with one or more professional safety certifications. Example professional certifications include Certified Safety Professional (CSP), issued by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals; and Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) issued by the Utility Safety and Operations Leadership Network (USOLN).
Hands-on experience in an ET&D-related craft (e.g., transmission/distribution lineman, substation technician, electrician, testing technician/engineer) is highly valued.
OSHA or other safety instructor certifications, as well as familiarity with renewable and BESS safety standards, are a plus.
