The Marathon Los Angeles Refinery is currently seeking applicants to fill full-time new Operations Trainee positions at our Wilmington and Carson, CA locations. Operators work closely with team members to monitor, regulate, and operate complex process equipment to produce quality products in a safe, environmentally sound, and efficient manner. Operators work in a safety-sensitive environment and must successfully complete an extensive pre-employment assessment process, drug/alcohol and medical screenings, and a background check. To ensure safe operations, new hires must also successfully complete operator qualification training and participate in continuous random drug and alcohol screenings. Successful candidates will have a solid understanding of physical science, chemistry and mathematics, including algebra; a passing score on pre-employment test including mechanical aptitude, reading and mathematics.
Work performed at ground level and at heights on concrete, metal grating, gravel, asphalt, and piping surfaces, while climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying 10-20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 250 pounds with mechanical assistance and working in confined spaces.
Schedule: Operators Trainee work 12 hour rotating shift schedules (day and night) and must be available for overtime and often work holidays.
Pay and Benefits: Minimum starting Operator Trainee rate is $39.82/hour with the ability to earn within four years up to $60.05/hour as an Operator Trainee Marathon has highly competitive benefits including retirement and medical. These are represented positions within the refinery.
