POSITION SUMMARY
The Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving and inspecting incoming shipments, verifying quantities, and ensuring goods are delivered in good condition. This role requires accurately recording incoming shipments, resolving discrepancies with vendors, and coordinating with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure timely processing Responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, and administration of Dynamics, Excel Spreadsheets and material related certificates, records, and calibration. The Receiving Clerk also supports inventory control by maintaining accurate records and organizing the received goods for storage or distribution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receiving Shipments:
•Accept and unload deliveries from trucks and other shipments.
•Verify the accuracy of shipment contents by comparing packing slips and purchase orders with the physical items received.
•Inspect received goods for damage or defects and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
•Ability to be qualified to drive on behalf of Rhoads preferred
•Ability to be qualified to drive forklift and operate material handling equipment on behalf of Rhoads
•Documentation & Record Keeping:
•Accurately record received goods in the company’s inventory system, ensuring that all information (quantities, descriptions, and delivery dates) is correct.
•Monitor and maintain material certification of material.
•Collects, organizes and analyzes data required in receiving, transfer and shipment of material.
•Ensure compliance with the storing of production material and applicable tooling and equipment Policies and Procedures
•Create Reports and provide to internal and external customers
•Maintain detailed and organized records of all incoming shipments and delivery documents.
•File any claims for damaged goods with carriers and coordinate with suppliers for return or replacement.
Communications:
•Communicate with suppliers and vendors regarding shipment discrepancies, returns, or issues with damaged goods.
•Notify the appropriate departments, such as purchasing or inventory management, of shipment arrivals and any problems encountered.
Inspection & Quality Control:
+ Examine shipments to ensure the correct items have been delivered and are in proper condition.
+ Conduct quality control checks, including verifying that items are free of damage, defects, and meet specifications as required.
+ Reject any defective or incorrect goods and notify vendors or supervisors of the discrepancies.
+ Ensure that incoming shipments are handled according to safety procedures and company policies.
+ Secure shipments and inventory to prevent loss, theft, or damage.
+ Maintain cleanliness and organization of the receiving area.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain Navy badging preferred
Inventory & Stock Control:
+ Prepare goods for storage or further distribution, organizing items in designated areas according to established inventory systems.
+ Label and tag received goods as necessary to ensure they can be easily tracked and identified.
+ Assist with cycle counts or full inventory audits to ensure accurate stock levels.
+ Communicate with warehouse and inventory teams to ensure proper storage and timely movement of goods.
+ Coordinate with other departments for inventory needs and updates regarding stock levels. o Assist in resolving inventory discrepancies and making necessary adjustments in the system.
Operational Efficiency:
+ Work closely with warehouse staff to ensure goods are moved efficiently from the receiving dock to storage areas.
+ Help with the organization and optimization of the warehouse layout to improve the efficiency of receiving and shipping processes.
+ Support the loading and unloading of trucks, utilizing equipment such as pallet jacks or forklifts when necessary.
+ Assist in improving receiving processes to increase operational efficiency and accuracy.
+ Provide input on ways to enhance receiving operations and minimize delays in the flow of goods.
EDUCATION:
•Required: HS Diploma or equivalent required. Additional education or certification in logistics, warehouse management, or a related field is a plus.
EXPERIENCE:
•Previous experience in receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory management preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Basic math skills and the ability to count and measure items accurately.
•Proficiency in using inventory software, spreadsheets, and databases to track shipments and stock.
•The ability to operate warehouse equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks, is a plus.
•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
•Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects (depending on the size and nature of shipments).
•Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
•Ability to work independently as well as to function effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
•Excellent time management and organizational skills, detail oriented and efficient.
•Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point with the ability to learn job related software
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
•The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
•Ability to lift to 75 lbs.
•Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile
•May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.
