Job Summary (Overall Purpose of the Position)
Midwest Energy is seeking an analytical mind who can take customer data, see patterns and translate those revenue needs into rates. The Rates and Data Analyst acts as an expert on rates and data analysis for Midwest Energy. This person will also collaborate with the Rates and Tariff Manager by providing support related to rates and rate cases. This individual is responsible for building relationships by answering rates- and data-related questions both internally and externally. They keep up to date on public policies, changing customer habits, and industry trends that promote the growth of electrification resources beneficial to Midwest Energy. Additionally, this self-starter assists in Customer Service special projects associated with rates and data efforts, which include the customer-driven electrification of our service area.
Job Duties - Responsibilities – Tasks
•Research and resolve issues and questions involving rates and tariffs.
•Assists in forecasting energy sales and revenue.
•Analyze and determine patterns and habits through usage data.
•Analyzes external forces that impact energy sales volumes.
•Utilize data from advanced metering or stored in the meter data management system (MDMS) to support rate design.
•Provide frontline assistance to internal and external customer inquiries regarding behind-the-meter renewable energy options, key accounts, and rates & tariffs.
•Assist Customer Service Representatives with complex billing issues and inquiries, including calculating billing corrections and comparisons.
•Assist the Rates and Tariff Manager with data collection, analysis, and effective utilization.
Key Competencies
•Ability to work independently, be a self-starter and inquisitive.
•Demonstrated analytical background with basic knowledge of accounting and finance principles and statistics.
•Proficiency in R or python, or data sorting programming languages, helpful but not required
•Demonstrated proficiency in verbal and written communication to correspond with customers, community members, cross-functional teams, co-workers, and managers.
•Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional work groups.
•Ability to initiate and manage appropriate projects and programs (including the design, marketing, administration, and evaluation).
•Ability to analyze, interpret and synthesize large and complex datasets. Ability to develop models and forecasts to support rate design and cost-of-service studies.
•Ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
•Ability to provide quality customer service.
•Demonstrated intermediate-level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis on spread sheets.
Energy Technology
•Manage the renewable generation interconnection program, guiding customers and vendors through the process, reviewing site plans and one-line diagrams, and coordinating with the engineering department for final approval.
•Collect and review renewable generation interconnection agreements from customers and manage agreement database.
•Interact with engineering and customer service to facilitate interconnection agreement process, especially solar connections
•Serve as Midwest Energy’s behind-the-meter renewable energy expert and the customers’ point of contact on specific processes and technology resources (EV, fleet electrification, EV charging stations, rooftop solar and associated applications), including the latest research trends.
•Keep a record of all renewable energy interconnections and provide monthly updates to the solar tracking worksheet.
Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, engineering, or related discipline required or commensurate combination of degree and/or relevant work experience.
•Relevant experience includes technical analysis, project management, utility industry, renewable energy, accounting.
•Knowledge of electrical systems and their capacities, preferred.

•Promote safe working habits and enforce all safety rules and regulations of Midwest Energy, Inc. Lead by example in safety compliance and take corrective action on safety violations, defective equipment, and any other practice that may adversely affect a safe working environment.
•Keep informed regarding new developments, trends, and best practices in relevant field. Recommend changes, initiatives, etc. to management for effective processes and procedures within the company.
•Keep apprised of changes and developments in pertinent local, State and Federal laws, ordinances and rules, and take appropriate action to stay in compliance with said rules, regulations, etc.
•Develop and maintain internal and external working relationships for maximum effectiveness in serving Midwest Energy customers and communities. Ensure communication and exchange of information so as to present a positive corporate image, both internally and externally. Keep management informed of issues that might impact the work environment.
