NSC Minerals Ltd. was established in 1988, Since then, we have grown to become a major supplier of minerals, such as Salt and Calcium Chloride in Western Canada and the North and Midwest regions of the United States. In 2020, NSC was purchased by Stone Canyon Industry Holdings and we are now part of a larger group of companies that includes Windsor Salt and Morton Salt.
Our head office is located in Saskatoon, SK and we have operating plants in Rocanville, SK, Vanscoy, SK and Brooks, AB. We have a packaging plant just outside of Saskatoon, SK and bulk inventory storage in Alberta and Manitoba. Along with our focus on safety and the environment, we have a dedicated employee base, solid logistics network and a committed customer base.
We are looking for a Railcar Loader at our Delisle facility which is located 45km southwest of Saskatoon on Highway #7.
Please note that we do not have a camp at this site. We hire employees locally to the area. Candidates must either live near Vanscoy, SK or be willing to relocate to the area.
The Railcar Loader is responsible for loading railcars with salt at our transload facilities. The incumbent is responsible for operating rail and transloading equipment including rail line switches, rail spur line, portable rail undercar conveyor, belt conveyor and super B trailer hopper. Operates railcars and trailers in a safe manner and in accordance with policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
Responsibilities:
•Review, understand and follow all SOPs related to the work area
•Review, understand and follow all safety rules and general site rules including fall arrest harnesses, use of wheel chocks, lock out/tag out, etc.
•Operates rail and transloading equipment including, but not limited to, rail line switches, rail spur line, portable rail undercar conveyor, belt conveyor and super B trailer hopper
•Record railcar numbers and contaminants on the daily railcar information sheet and provide to the office.
•Clean up any spilt salt and ensure proper disposal
•Ensure dust collection systems are working properly. Report any issues to the Superintendent.
•Ensure rail cars are loaded within capacity. Ensure leaking railcars do not leave the siding.
•Ensure yard and facilities are kept clean and in good condition including roadways, washroom, kitchen, locker room, exits, lighting, etc.
•Complete equipment checklists, inspections and Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHA) as required
•Report any equipment issues or malfunctions to the Superintendent or Plant Manager
•Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings or investigations as required
•Complete safety and equipment training/retraining as required
•Use all required safety equipment and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
•Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
•Previous experience working in a heavy industrial environment
•Previous experience loading or moving railcars would be considered an asset.
•Flexible mentality - ability to operate as well as assist in other areas, such as yard and facilities housekeeping duties
•Ability to work safely and in accordance with SOPs
•Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
•Valid drivers license and reliable transportation to and from site
