The Rail Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading of cement into rail cars, ensuring proper documentation, compliance with all safety regulations, and maintaining operational excellence. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments. The Rail Operator reports directly to the Rail Terminal Superintendent.
- General yard activities such as taking daily rail car count, which track they are on, and preparing them for loading.
- Operate and monitor loading equipment to fill rail cars with cement according to company specifications.
- Inspect rail cars prior to loading for cleanliness, safety compliance, and readiness.
- Secure rail cars after loading, including sealing, labeling, and completing all required paperwork.
- Follow strict safety protocols and always wear appropriate PPE.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and report equipment issues.
- Maintain accurate records of materials loaded and shipment details.
- Perform housekeeping duties to keep work areas clean and hazard-free.
- Prior experience in rail operations, bulk material handling, or industrial loading preferred.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and in varied weather conditions.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic equipment issues.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Willingness to work flexible, weekends, and holidays as needed.
