Job Description: As the R&D Welder Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the welding and fabrication of new fixtures, tooling, and prototypes for production use. You will take a lead role in fitting up and welding complex assemblies, conducting repairs, and providing routine maintenance on existing fixtures. You will guide and mentor junior welders in the production process, ensuring high-quality standards, safety protocols and shop etiquette are met.
Key Responsibilities:
•Lead Welding Projects: Oversee and participate in the setup and welding of complex fixtures, components, and prototypes according to shop specifications.
•Supervise Team: Lead, train, and mentor junior R&D welders, ensuring tasks are completed according to quality standards and on time.
•Welding Execution: Perform welding on custom parts, prototypes, and production fixtures with attention to detail and accuracy.
•Maintain Equipment: Ensure all welding and fabrication tools are maintained in safe working conditions, troubleshoot, and repair any faulty equipment.
•Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety protocols and providing guidance to the welding team on best safety practices.
•Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the R&D team and shop leaders in coordinating project timelines and ensure all customer specifications are met.
•Quality Control: Verify that all welded parts meet shop standards and customer requirements; inspect welds for quality and precision.
•Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve any welding-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
•Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of welding projects, materials used, and maintenance tasks completed.
•Other Duties: Support additional tasks as needed, including inventory management and general shop organization.
Qualifications:
•Minimum of 5 years’ welding experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role or team lead position.
•Advanced proficiency in welding techniques, including dual shield welding, MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
•Blueprint reading and understanding of welding symbols and measurements (use of tape measure).
•Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the ability to guide a team in meeting productivity and quality goals.
•Problem-solving abilities and keen attention to detail in both welding and managing the production process.
•Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, management, and other departments.
•Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
•Basic math skills to accurately calculate measurements, angles, and material requirements.
•Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines consistently.
•Dependable and punctual with the ability to manage and maintain a consistent work schedule.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, stooping, and handling equipment.
•Frequent lifting and moving heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.).
•Ability to work in varied environments, including noisy and hot conditions.
Job Type: Full-time
Wage: $25.00 to start
Expected Hours: 36+4 schedule (36 hours per week + potential overtime).
Shift:
•Day shift: 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM
•Weekly Schedule: Monday-Thursday
