Job Summary
At Variety Die and Stamping Co., we specialize in high-quality metal stampings and assemblies for the automotive and lawn and garden industries. Our departments include stamping presses, robotic and resistance welding, crimp/assembly, packing, quality, and tool & die.
We are seeking a hands-on, experienced Quality Technician to support quality efforts and ensure product and process integrity across operations.
The Quality Tech is a critical role that works closely with shift leadership and production teams to ensure parts meet or exceed customer requirements and that processes are followed consistently, while reporting directly to the Quality Manager.
- Lead quality efforts across stamping, welding, crimp/assembly, and packing departments.
- Interpret and apply blueprint specifications to verify part conformance.
- Perform in-process and final inspections using a full range of measurement tools.
- Use precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, thread gauges, and surface plates.
- Utilize quality tools including control plans, check sheets, process capability analysis, and root cause problem-solving techniques.
- Support and guide production teams with quality-related issues.
- Document and report inspection results; escalate non-conformances as needed.
- Operate and interpret results from CMM (PC DMIS, Calypso) software.
- Training of production operators to processes and procedures
- Apply statistical methods to monitor and improve process capability
- ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) preferred
- Proficiency in statistical process control (SPC), control charts, and capability studies
- Minimum 5 years of quality experience.
- Minimum 2 years of team lead experience.
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Strong knowledge of GD&T
- Self-motivated and able to manage tasks efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Strong knowledge of quality tools, inspection techniques, and problem-solving methodologies.
- PC DMIS and Calypso experience is a plus.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Flexible educational background—technical knowledge and hands-on experience matter most.
- Experience with PLEX ERP Software would be a significant plus.
