Location: South Eastern US (including OK, LA, AR, MS) | Reports To: Quality Manager
Position Overview
The Quality Technical Specialist supports and enhances quality operations across all Bell locations by maintaining the Quality Management System (QMS), leading audits, investigating nonconformities, ensuring compliance with industry and customer standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
This role will require frequent travel and hands-on collaboration with production yards, operations teams, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
•Design, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) according to regulatory and industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001, GMP).
•Conduct yard and production audits, monitoring inventory aging, material quality, and process efficiency.
•Investigate customer complaints, manufacturing errors, and product defects; lead root cause analyses and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes.
•Manage document control systems (SOPs, specifications, and work instructions).
•Train and mentor QC Technicians and yard personnel on testing, inspection, grading, and auditing.
•Analyze quality data to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvement.
•Oversee calibration schedules for production equipment and solution monitoring.
•Support supplier quality management through assessments and audits.
•Partner with Operations, Sales, and Management teams to support product and service excellence.
•Travel to various Bell locations and customer sites as required.
Qualifications
•High School Diploma or equivalent (additional quality certifications a plus).
•Previous Quality Control experience in the Wood Pole and/or Lumber Industry.
•Strong understanding of pole industry specifications and quality standards.
•Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word, Excel, Access).
•Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.
•Ability and willingness to travel regularly.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
•Moderate to heavy travel across Bell and customer locations.
•Frequent standing, walking, reaching; occasional sitting, tool handling, and verbal communication.
•Ability to lift/move 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally.
•Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around production equipment noise.
•Light exposure to chemicals and treating solutions.
