Position Title: Quality Control / Assurance – Hourly Positions (NIGHT SHIFT - 2nd shift)

Position Purpose: Inspect pipe, operate equipment, demonstrates knowledge of operational processes. Performs required work safely and uniformly within operation guidelines & standards but does not necessarily have proven proficiency in specific skillset within department.



Job Assignments


Core Accountabilities


Quality Clerk

Support the Quality Coordinator & Management Representative in maintaining QMS as instructed.
Perform work station quality audits as requested.
Enter all testing, inspection and any other quality data into the system.
Complete daily shift reports and distribute in a timely manner.
Assist with vendor claims as needed.

Review & approve product Material Test Reports (MTRs).
Maintain control of processing of material in yard that is not deemed as prime material.
Support Coordinator in control over raw slit coil inventory and scheduling production runs.
Control all pipe tallies that are shipping from facility for accuracy.


Quality Lab Tech


Collects, organizes, and preps samples for testing.
Efficiently performs and accurately evaluates all applicable testing.
Maintains reports on testing results.
Assists Supervisor with inventory and product reporting.


Lead Lab Tech


Performs role of Tech.
Additionally directs the work of other Techs to perform quality lab processes efficiently and effectively.


Hydrotest Assistant

Positions pipe for Operator.


Provides general assistance.


Hydrotest Operator


Utilize hydro equipment efficiently and effectively in order to test pipe at high pressure per specifications
Change over equipment as required
Perform general maintenance on equipment


Marking Operator


Marks status and grade of pipe.
Ensures pipe is stenciled correctly.
Directs pipe for rework and/or next phase of process.


Prove Up Operator


Utilizes handheld device to identify test and identify flaws for rework.
Communicates testing results.


SEA Assistant


Align pipe and position magnetic rod for testing.
Generally assist Operator.


SEA Operator


Performs NDT mag particle testing on threaded pipe with precision and efficiency.
Identifies flaws in pipe.
Orders cut-offs for pipe as needed.


Gag Press Assistant


Positions pipe for Operator.
Provides general assistance.


Gag Press Operator


Utilizes equipment controls and adjusts tolerances as needed to straighten pipe.


Quality Inspector - Threading


Ensures all post-production materials are inspected, tested, and documented according to standard quality procedures.
Reviews any pre-production inspection concerns and, under supervision, decides on corrective actions
Prepares gauges for order inspection setup and secures the gauge area in adherence to proper storage and control measures.


FBUT Operator


Operates machinery to test various quality standards
Successfully detects and communicates surface, subsurface, internal, and dimensional flaws in pipe


Final Inspector


Performs visual inspection of outgoing pipe to ensure quality of stencil and stenciling that correctly reflects pipe specs before release.


Quality Specialist


Ensures proper use of gauge.
Ensures and tracks equipment calibration.


QC Lead (FBUT)


Performs roles of Operators.
Additionally directs the work of other Operators to perform operation processes efficiently and effectively.


Quality Foreman


Directly supervises / manages Specialists and Thread Inspectors and ensures their productivity and accuracy meets expectations.
As needed, can and does perform the role of these positions.

Other: Temporarily assume the duties and responsibilities of other roles, as directed by management. All safety and operational parameters of the assumed role apply.

Qualifications and Essential Functions


Experience Required:

Experience in an industrial environment using related tools and equipment. Six (6)+ months of training & close supervision in position.

For foreman: Six (6)+ months of experience in supervisory role.


Education/Experience (REQUIRED):

High School diploma or GED equivalent strongly preferred; Certification a plus.


Skills/Abilities:

Ability to work overtime in order to meet the needs of the operation.
Acute visual ability to observe product nonconformance. Visual ability consisting of strong close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Perform intense manual labor with long work hours. Ability to stand for a long period of time; bend, stoop, climb, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, and move around work area.
Ability to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and reach with arms.
Ability to lift and carry up to 55 lbs occasionally, and 20 lbs regularly.
Demonstrates skill in operating equipment.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to read a minimum of Jaeger 2 or equivalent type and size letter at a distance of not less than 12 inches on a standard Jaeger test chart.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent and mass; and interpret bar graphs.
Aptitude to calculate and use the following instruments – Scale in 1/8”, 1/16”, 1/32” and 1/64” increments – 12” to 72” long; Protractor Head, Diameter Tape – 100’s increments, Micrometers, Diameter Tape – 1/64” increments, 6” Vernier Caliper, 50’ Tapes, Ring Gauges, Squares, Levels, Line Levels, Various Tape Measures, Conversion Charts (Decimal to Fraction, Fraction to Decimal), Tri-Square, String Line, Feeler Gauges, Overhead Scale, Dial Indicators, Calipers


COMMUNICATION:

Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with employees via conversation or in writing.
Ability to read and interpret product specifications such as work orders and travelers.
Ability to effectively present information to management.
Ability to effectively speak before groups and/or customers.
Ability to speak, read, and write English for the purpose of product specification interpretation and training and safety materials comprehension.

Negligible


ENVIRONMENTAL:

Ability to work most effectively in an industrial workshop field setting while also capable of managing tools, inventory, and equipment as part of the daily work activities and management. Wet and humid conditions / subject to outdoor weather conditions such as heat. Occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. Moderate to high noise. Must be able to work morning, evening, & night shifts, including rotating shifts as applicable.
