QMC Metering Solutions supplies and integrates submetering technologies and systems to effectively monitor the consumption of electricity, water, gas, and thermal energy. Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer who will be responsible for investigating nonconformances including site investigations, facilitating and developing corrective action plans for continual improvement, create technical training, audit technicians’ proficiency, monitor and control quarantine product including RMAs. The Quality Engineer will be a subject matter expert on our product and service lines and will also be responsible for conducting investigations related to product and service quality issues. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Quality Engineer will help support the Quality Assurance program on a national level and contribute to the continuous improvement of products and services.
- Perform investigations assigned by the Quality Manager to resolve Nonconformities, RMAs, client requests, product issues, and service quality issues.
- Nonconformance Reporting System: assess NCRs; identify root cause by investigating product defects and communicating with internal teams, clients, and suppliers; develop corrective actions; monitor and close NCRs; maintain the NCR log; analyze data; and generate monthly statistics and reports.
- RMA process: assess RMA requests; test products to identify root cause; determine appropriate resolutions.
- Work with Technician leads and product management teams to train and audit inspectors, technicians and related personnel on the processes and services related to the installation and commissioning of water, thermal, electrical, gas, and other energy meters while maintaining training and audit records.
- Become a subject matter expert on product lines and the regulations, standards (Measurement Canada’ S-A-01), and specifications that govern their use.
- Work with the Product Management department to learn new products and services and develop associated training and performance assessment content related to their use.
- Utilize software to develop systems to improve processes and workflows and contribute to improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to maintaining quality documentation and creating technical procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or Diploma in Engineering Technology; Mechanical or Electrical preferred.
- At least 3 years’ experience in Quality and/ or 4 years in the submetering industry is required. Similar experience in utilities, electrical and/or mechanical control systems, or similar fields will be considered.
- Experience working within a QMS and standards such as ISO 9001:2015 or regulated industry is an asset
- Experience training technical staff and creating technical training content.
- Experience performing root cause analysis, experience investigating nonconformances and developing and corrective action plans.
- Ability to create and review technical procedures and reports.
- Excellent technical writing and oral communication skills; must be fluent in English.
- Strong conflict resolution and people management skills.
- Strong work ethic, initiative-taking and self-directed.
- Strong problem solving and data analysis skills.
- Proficient with basic Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.).
- Intermediate skills with MS excel, SharePoint, Power Automate, and other Data Analyst software.
