The Quality Control Manager serves as a strategic partner to Operations and drive quality initiatives aligned with the Product Pillar of Operational Excellence. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for establishing and leading a comprehensive quality management framework across all regions, including identifying additional QC leadership positions.
The Quality Control Manager leads across multiple departments and teams to organize and deliver quality improvement solutions. This role leads Quality Control (QC), Quality Assurance (QA), and Quality Management practices, provides a strong local presence, facilitates training, ensures DOT compliance, monitors product quality utilizing digital tools, and maintains quality control documentation.
30% of job: Relationships: Build trust and collaboration with QC Technicians, site leadership, DOT contacts, local customers, and state aggregate associations.
20% of job: Knowledge: Develop and maintain deep expertise in plant operations, DOT sampling/testing protocols, and internal and external quality control reporting systems.
20% of job: Training: Direct competency model-based training, oversee DOT certification programs, facilitate QC roundtables, and continuous learning opportunities.
20% of job: Accountability: Lead data-driven quality reviews. Ensure consistent processes and procedures through stockpile sampling, lab inspections, equipment checks, round robin testing, escalation plans, and regular communication.
10% of job: Documentation: Implement and maintain digital systems for tracking DOT compliance and quality records. Maintain up-to-date Quality Control Plans and certification documentation
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred: Experience in soils, aggregates, ready-mix concrete, asphalt, civil engineering, geology, or laboratory settings.
Outdoor exposure to the full range of weather conditions. May work in water (i.e. ponds and streams); in, on and around high walls and pits and be subjected to heat and noise generated by machinery and controlled blasting. May work for extended periods of time from elevated positions or underground tunnels. Occasional extended hours and travel with overnight stays will be required. May be exposed to working near moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
