Quality Assurance Inspector – HVAC / Building Envelope / Basic Lighting
It’s On Electric is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector with field experience in residential and commercial energy efficiency upgrades, including heat pumps, ventilation systems, insulation, and basic lighting. This is not an installation role — instead, you will be verifying that work performed by contractors complies with utility program standards, manufacturer specifications, and safety guidelines.
This role is vital to the successful delivery of various site inspection contracts under BC Hydro and FortisBC’s energy-saving provincial rebate programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Field Inspection Duties:
•Conduct in-person QA inspections on installations such as: Mini-split and central heat pumps, Bath and kitchen fans, HRVs, ERVs, Insulation, weather sealing, and building envelope upgrades and, LED lighting and basic fixture replacements.
•Visually assess installation quality, equipment type, configuration, and system sizing
•Document findings using checklists, photos, and mobile tools
Virtual Inspection:
•Perform live video inspections for qualified simpler scopes
•Guide contractors or homeowners through camera walkthroughs
•Ensure photo/video evidence is sufficient for compliance verification
Documentation & Reporting:
•Ensure installations match program guidelines (e.g., CleanBC, FortisBC, BC Hydro)
•Upload reports to internal QA systems
•Flag deficiencies, request clarifications, and escalate complex issues to senior staff
QUALIFICATIONS:
•Field experience in HVAC, building envelope upgrades, or lighting retrofits • Familiarity with energy efficiency incentive programs in BC (CleanBC, BC Hydro, FortisBC)
•Understanding of installation documentation (invoices, configurations)
•Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
•Driver’s license and willingness to travel across the Lower Mainland (travel reimbursed)
•Bonus: HRAI certifications, thermography, or blower door testing experience
•Must pass a Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
•Able to work well independently or as part of a team
•Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
•Committed to the highest level of safety standards
NOT REQUIRED BUT WOULD BE AN ASSET:
•Experience conducting QA or post-installation verification
•Experience working with First Nations housing, rural homes, or low-income programs
•Familiarity with small hand tools and mobile inspection tools
