Role: QA/QC Inspector
Rate: $60 - $90 hourly

Location: Long Lake site, Fort McMurray
Work schedule: Rotational shift at 12 hours/day. Please note the work schedule is subject to change.
Requirements & Job Responsibilities:
•Conduct and document inspections on boilers, pressure vessels, piping systems, exchangers, and above-ground storage tanks in accordance with API, ASME, and ABSA requirements.
•Perform inspection and oversight of welding, fabrication, coating, and NDE (RT, UT, MPI, LPI) activities.
•Review and verify contractor Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and ensure execution according to client specifications.
•Monitor and control quality during fabrication, repair, and installation phases.
•Supervise API inspectors and NDE technicians during site inspections.
•Support pressure equipment integrity programs through inspection planning and execution.
•Prepare and review inspection reports, repair recommendations, and turnover documentation.
•Coordinate with Mechanical and Process Engineers to assess equipment condition and ensure operational integrity.
•Evaluate corrosion rates and remaining life to set inspection intervals based on ABSA guidelines.
•Maintain and update inspection history and quality documentation in the database.
•Generate notifications and track inspection and repair activities using SAP or similar CMMS tools.
•Liaise with ABSA Authorized Inspectors for repair reviews and inspections in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Div 1/2 and B31.1 codes.
•Support turnarounds and outages by performing inspections and ensuring compliance during critical activities.
•Provide technical input on welding procedures, materials, and applicable codes and standards.
•Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) of equipment failures and support lessons-learned initiatives.
•Coordinate with third-party inspectors for off-site fabrication and witness hold points as per ITP.
•Assist in internal audits and support external ABSA audits as needed.
Qualifications:
· Valid certifications in API 510, 570, 653; CWB Level 1 or higher; IBPV or equivalent provincial pressure equipment certification.
· Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in QC inspection within oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects.
· Strong knowledge of ASME, API, CSA, and other industry standards.
· Proficient in reading engineering drawings, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.
· Familiar with SAP or similar maintenance/inspection management systems.
· Strong report writing, documentation, and communication skills.
· Able to work independently and in coordination with multidisciplinary teams.
