About the Job:
Operating in a Northern British Columbia mining environment on a two week in/two week out shift rotation, the Purchasing Superintendent is responsible for the purchasing and contracts requirements for the Silvertip Operation. Solid work ethics, regular attendance, and punctuality are essential requirements for this position
Responsibilities:
•Plan, organize, direct, evaluate and optimize the materials management activities of the Silvertip operation;
•Manage manpower, equipment, scheduling and infrastructure requirements;
•Review multiple reports and take appropriate action if needed, work closely with site Inventory Control to ensure proper min/max stocking levels;
•Responsible for leading the full range of procurement processes in a cross functional role, included but not limited to, day to day procurement of supplies;
•Maintains regional responsibility for a strategic and/or high dollar commodity or group of commodities, for price/value determination, product and/or service negotiations, terms and conditions;
•Develops and implements a procurement strategy for the commodities they manage including competitive, technology direction, supplier analysis, development and selection and pricing strategy;
•Acts as primary interface with Coeur suppliers for all relationship management, contract negotiation issues, establishing business framework for transactions, performance reviews, business development and supplier awards programs;
•Evaluates or monitors contract performance to determine necessity for amendments or extensions of contracts, and compliance to contractual obligations. Arbitrates claims or complaints occurring in performance of contracts;
•Sources all products and services, maintaining a continuity of supply, while delivering the lowest cost component or service plan through RFP and contracting solutions;
•Provides site direction and performance reporting for cost analysis to senior management;
•Leads negotiations for high impact commodities, providing guidance on negotiations strategy and negotiations planning, developing a commodity strategy, and presentations / communication consistent message to suppliers;
•Has interaction and negotiation with senior executives of industry leading multi-national companies;
•Participates in the Commodity Negotiation process ensuring accurate forecasting and pricing accuracy;
•Manages data flow for pricing fluctuations in market and analytical tools including development and maintenance of Commodity Management systems;
•Conducts strategic analysis on pricing, the market, suppliers, customers, competitors, contracts, and long-term agreements;
•May act as site liaison to manage critical shortage, develop strategies on constrained commodities and represent site, manage related systems changes that have broad effect on execution of purchasing responsibilities;
•Drives process improvement, works with team in the development of IT tools for group, defines business processes and implements new tools/ processes;
•Performs bid activity for sensitive/highly visible complex bids.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
•Ten (10) years’ experience in a purchasing role;
•Experience in tendering and awarding service contracts;
•Purchasing negotiations skills;
•Mining industry experience desired;
•Physically fit to perform the duties of the position.
Additional Information:
•Willing to work a two-week rotation schedule, with 12-hour shifts per day at a remote camp.
•Our current designated marshalling locations are Vancouver, Kelowna, Nanaimo, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Teslin, and Watson Lake.
