Job Summary

We are seeking a competent and proactive Purchasing Agent to manage procurement activities, ensure cost-effective purchases, and maintain vendor relationships. The ideal candidate has experience in purchasing, strong skills in Excel, and excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational abilities.

Responsibilities

- Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers, ensuring reliability and quality.

- Research and compare suppliers, goods, and services to identify the best options in terms of cost, quality, and dependability.

- Select suppliers based on reliability, product quality, cost-efficiency, and delivery.

- Monitor inventory levels and determine purchasing needs.

- Request cost proposals (quotes) and negotiate contracts and prices.

- Prepare and process purchase orders in a timely manner.

- Maintain records of all transactions, including purchase orders, receipts, and payments.

- Schedule and verify purchase deliveries; ensure accuracy and timeliness.

- Build and sustain positive, long-term supplier relations.

Requirements

- Proven experience in purchasing or procurement; must have done some purchasing work in a previous role for a minimum of 5 -7 years.

- Manufacturing required.

- Job shop experience preferred.

- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

- Strong negotiation skills.

- Strong organizational skills; good at documentation.

- Attention to detail; accurate record-keeping.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

- Comfortable comparing costs, reviewing proposals, evaluating supplier offers.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
