Job Overview
BayWa r.e. is seeking a positive, responsible, detail-oriented and proactive Purchaser to join its dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that our distribution operations are supplied with the necessary materials and components. This position requires strong negotiation skills, vendor management expertise, and a solid understanding of supply chain dynamics. - Manage the purchasing process from requisition to delivery, ensuring timely acquisition of materials.
- Develop relationships with vendors to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Maintain vendor relationships, vendor records and monitor vendor performance (cost, lead time, delivery, and quality)
- Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained
- Organize relevant pricing and technical information for the rest of the team
- Utilize ERP systems and MRP tools to forecast demand and manage inventory levels effectively.
- Analyze market trends and pricing strategies to optimize procurement decisions.
- Collaborate with internal teams (Sales, Inside Sales, Warehouse) to understand material requirements and ensure alignment with production schedules.
- Conduct regular evaluations of suppliers to assess performance and compliance with quality standards.
- Prepare purchase orders and maintain accurate records of all procurement activities.
- Implement cost-saving initiatives through strategic sourcing and vendor management.- 2+ years of proven experience in purchasing or procurement within the solar or electricity industries preferred.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, MRP processes, and supply chain management principles.
- Proficiency in SAP or similar software for tracking purchasing activities.
- Excellent negotiation skills with a track record of successful vendor management.
- Ability to analyze pricing structures and market conditions effectively.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Support in the demand planning process and providing sales teams up to date information on product delivery and project related inquiries
- Meet or exceed KPI’s around inventory turns and stock-outs
- Attend trade shows and keep up to date with industry trends
- Research and follow various solar-related technologies for new product ideas
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers.
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
