As we continue to grow and invest in our operations, Scotia Recycling Ltd. (SRL) is searching for a skilled and experienced Production Utility Worker in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
Position Overview
This is a Full -time, permanent position reporting to the Facility Operations Manager with remote direction, guidance and training provided by the Maintenance Lead, who is based out of our St. John's, NL location.
As a Property Maintenance/Production Worker, you will be responsible for regular preventative maintenance of the physical site and the production equipment, helping to ensuring the optimal functionality of our facility, while also assisting with various operational tasks. This role is crucial in keeping our facility running smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities - Production:
•Work in safe and efficient manner to help achieve productivity targets.
•Must wear required PPE and adhere to all safety regulations and policies/procedures.
•Sort and move products and materials by hand or with material handling equipment in an efficient and careful manner.
•Visual inspections and responsible to report any deficiencies, damage with equipment including pre-shift reports on daily basis.
•Good knowledge of conveyors kit repairs, and hydraulic hoses installs.
•General building maintenance and repair - painting, drywall repair, lighting changes.
•General cleaning of equipment and grease equipment.
•Salting and shovelling of snow.
•Report all incidents/accidents immediately to the supervisor.
•Must keep work area tidy and clean (no clutter).
•Takes a positive approach to work assignments and adhere to the Respectful Workplace Policy.
•Adhere to all company Policies and Procedures.
•All other duties assigned by supervisor or lead hand that are safe and reasonable.
Key Responsibilities - Property Maintenance:
•Perform general maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, including conveyor belts, pulleys, and other machinery.
•Perform general maintenance and minor repairs on the building as required.
•Conduct regular cleaning and oiling of equipment to ensure optimal performance.
•Build and maintain recycling corrals, including replacement of wheels and structural repairs.
•Perform outdoor maintenance, including fixing steps, shoveling snow, salting doorways, and general cleanup.
•Provide support for any urgent repairs or tasks that may arise outside of regular working hours.
Required Qualifications:
•Some post-secondary education in a technical field or the trades would be an asset but is not required.
•Proven experience in maintenance and repair tasks, preferably in a warehouse or industrial setting is required.
•Ability to operate forklifts and skid steers safely and efficiently.
•Strong problem-solving skills and ability to perform minor repairs on various equipment.
•Capable of performing physical tasks and working in varying weather conditions.
•Basic knowledge of painting, plastering, and general building maintenance.
•Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
