Position Description:
The primary function of the Propane Handler is to responsibly process and fill propane cylinders for shipment to customers. This is a full-time, non-exempt position and reports to the Department Supervisor.
Essential Job Functions:
Paint cages and/or other assets.
Repair tanks as necessary.
Maintenance on a variety of company assets related to the cylinder process and otherwise.
Keeps work area clean.
Serve customers by selling products, meeting customer needs and resolving customer problems.
Handle high-pressure and liquid cylinders.
Manage paperwork to DOT, OSHA, and Corrigan standards as applicable.
Assist loading/unloading cylinders and hard goods on / off pallets and on /off tractor trailers.
Inspect cylinders prior to filling, following standard procedures as required by government, Corrigan, and distributor standards relating to the safe handling of hazardous materials.
Prepare high pressure cylinders for filling: Attach to manifold, evacuate cylinders to eliminate all contaminants.
Fill cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards and accurately labels cylinders.
Conducts a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests, checking caps and valves.
Completes quality control sheets as required.
Understands hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder. labels and the color-coding of tanks.
Must be able to lift 60 pounds of necessary equipment; push and pull 75 pounds; stand for extended time.
Handle exposure to dust, fumes and high noise levels.
Operate a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
Able to handle high stress situations and frequent interruptions.
Good interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times.
Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work.
Regular interaction with peers on-site, including face-to-face meetings and spontaneous conferences.
Operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
Perform any duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications/Experience/Education:High school diploma or equivalent.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Forklift certification preferred. Must be obtained upon employment.
Able to pass 7-year criminal background check.
