Summary


The Projects Planner, under supervision and technical guidance, develops and completes Projects Design Change work instructions (e.g., Design Modification, Commercial Change, Design Equivalent Change, Temporary Modification, Alternate Detail and Use-As-Is Document Only Changes) to comply with Palo Verde procedure requirements, plant licensing documents, regulatory commitments, technical specifications and preventive modification and equipment qualification programs.

Provides technical guidance and work process support to Projects technicians. Interfaces and assists various departments with the development of permanent and temporary design changes, the identification of material required for these changes and assisting in the resolution of technical discrepancies and work process implementation issues. Participates in plant system teams in developing plant modifications.


Minimum Requirements


High school diploma/GED AND completion of applicable apprenticeship program OR five (5) years applicable trade experience (four years military training in a related field is acceptable). OR two-year Associates degree AND three (3) years experience in Projects, Engineering or Plant Operations as a technician, engineer and/or operator. OR, four-year Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Must meet requirements to enter Security Protected Areas and vital areas including Radiologically Controlled Area (RCA).



Nuclear requirements

Any PVGS employee may be called upon to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization (ERO) and will be expected to fulfill their obligation as an ERO member. Any PVGS employee may be called upon to support a refueling or short-notice outage. This includes line roles and responsibilities as necessary to execute outage activities. These are conditions of employment at PVGS.


Major Accountabilities

Translates complex engineering output documents into projects work task instructions while maintaining the design basis of the plant in accordance with the design configuration documents.

Develops complex work instructions and retest requirements to provide instructions to plant personnel to support troubleshooting activities, corrective projects and design change implementation per Updated Final Safety Analysis Report (UFSAR), technical specifications, approved vendor recommendations, engineering output documents and environmental compliance guidelines to ensure safe and efficient operation of Palo Verde.
Develops instructions, including translating Design Validation Testing to implement first time/first-of-a-kind Plant Modifications while maintaining Technical Specifications and Design Basis requirements.
Identifies and applies inspection steps in work instructions for Q (Quality) and QAG (Quality Augmented) applications in support of the Palo Verde Quality Assurance Program.
Determines required material/vendor services and prepares applicable procurement and vendor contract requests to ensure cost efficiency in support of Projects and design change packages for planned outages and online work activities.
Supplies procurement engineering technical field information to ensure that correct parts are procured.
Initiates new APS Part Number (APN) requests for new procurable and obsolete equipment/components.
Interfaces with personnel in Engineering, Operations, Radiation Protection, Projects and other groups as required to prepare projects instructions and resolve technical problems to support the 12-week schedule, emergent/urgent work, short notice (SNO) and refueling outages.
Participates on special projects, training programs, investigations and corrective actions to expeditiously achieve the desired results when requested.
Acquires/maintains 10CFR50.59 applicability determination training to assist engineering with maintaining plant configuration.
Develops and maintains a high level of awareness concerning Licensing issues, Industry Events (OE) and Palo Verde Design Basis.
Attends training for technician level activities as appropriate to support the front-line work groups in the field to obtain outage and non-outage scheduled goals.
Performs field walk-downs as required to identify related as-built configuration issues as well as provide craft personnel resolutions to installation challenges.

Hybrid Role:

This position combines working in the office and at home, based on the needs of the business. The schedule will be determined with the hired employee and leadership, but the ultimate decision is the company's.


Any PVGS employees may be called upon for random Fitness for Duty (FFD) testing during scheduled working hours. Employees, if off-site, must report to FFD at Palo Verde as soon as reasonably practicable, but no more than 120 minutes after being notified. Employees who are onsite when notified will have no more than 60 minutes to report after being notified.
