We design and manufacture advanced solids and gas injection technologies and extreme temperature vision systems for the global steelmaking industry. About the Role:
Tallman Technologies Inc. is seeking an experienced and driven Project Manager – SolidWorks Designer to lead custom metal fabrication projects from concept to delivery. This dual-role position combines technical design expertise with project management, focusing on high-performance engineered products. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in SolidWorks and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
•Manage projects from initial design through production and final delivery
•Create and revise 3D models and detailed manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks
•Prepare accurate cost estimates and project timelines for RFQs and change orders
•Coordinate purchasing and collaborate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
•Track and expedite job progress in liaison with production manager to meet client expectations and deadlines
•Perform root cause analysis on component failures and implement corrective actions.
•Process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) in a timely manner.
•Research and assist in the development innovative technologies, including advanced vision and monitoring systems for metallurgical applications.
•Collaborate closely with Application Engineers, Project Managers, and Production teams to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
•Serve as a point of contact for customers, ensuring quality and satisfaction
•Lead project performance reviews and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field (required)
•Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on SolidWorks design experience
•Minimum 2 years of project management experience in a manufacturing environment
•Strong background in estimating, job costing, and BOM creation
•Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
•Working knowledge of P&ID interpretation, mechanical systems, and relevant codes/standards
•Experience with SolidWorks Flow Simulation and heat transfer analysis is an asset
•Experience with MRP systems (Visual preferred)
•Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information to team members and stakeholders.
