Job Summary
The Public Works Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing various public works projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable regulations and standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, effective project management capabilities, and a thorough understanding of construction management processes. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical knowledge and practical experience in public works operations.
Responsibilities
•Manage and supervise public works projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
•Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to facilitate project execution.
•Utilize construction management software to track project progress, manage contracts, and maintain accurate records.
•Review blueprints and technical specifications to ensure compliance with design requirements.
•Implement effective time management strategies to optimize resource allocation and workflow efficiency.
•Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, safety compliance, and quality control on construction sites.
•Prepare reports on project status, including updates on timelines, budgets, and any issues that arise during the course of the project.
•Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry standards.
Qualifications
•Proven experience in public works or construction management roles.
•Proficiency in using Blue Beam or similar construction management software is preferred.
•Strong skills in blueprint reading and understanding technical drawings.
•Excellent project management skills with a focus on delivering results efficiently.
•Effective time management abilities to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
•Familiarity with contract negotiation and administration processes related to public works projects.
•Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams while maintaining strong leadership qualities.
•A solid understanding of safety regulations and best practices on construction sites.
