We are currently seeking a Project Manager / Manufacturing Engineer to support the successful execution of vault, assembly, and tank projects. This role focuses on project setup, coordination, supplier management, and process improvement to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely delivery of systems.
- Project management of custom valve vault systems and small assemblies from time of order, through design, submittal approval process, purchasing, receiving, manufacturing, testing, delivery and final startup
- Review customer discovery, equipment sizing, accessory selection, and layout; or review plan/spec projects with engineering input
- Develop scalable estimating tools (checklists, templates, recent-order benchmarks) to improve quoting efficiency and consistency
- Upon receipt of a sales order, create submittals, review drawings, and generate detailed bills of materials (BOMs)
- Enter jobs into ERP System, obtain vendor quotes, review purchase orders, respond to supplier inquiries, and maintain accurate schedule/delivery data
- Prepare and track concrete submittals, including communication with partners and updates for pricing/quote accuracy.
- Coordinate inventory of standard accessories and help establish minimum stock levels
- Maintaining sufficient shop supplies, standard components and tools for the facility
- Tracking partial shipments and remaining balance from various vendors
- Establishing production schedule, staging equipment, coordinating assembly and delivery
- Develop and maintain production/job status schedules to track backlog and anticipated ship dates
- Lead weekly coordination meetings to identify missing items, next steps, and communicate updates
- Collect and organize documentation for operations and maintenance manuals
- Maintain an updated calendar of project priorities and expectations
- Update reference lists for vaults, assemblies, and tanks
- Contribute to process improvement by refining tools, workflows, and offerings to add value across Pipestone and sister companies
- Support warehouse and operations functions as needed (inventory, shipping/receiving, RMAs).
- Building positive and proactive relationships with our customers over the phone and through correspondence while working through sometimes challenging problems and projects
- Continuing education of products which may include traveling to manufacturer’s site for training
- Working as part of a team of sales personnel, sharing knowledge, supporting each other, and committed to working together to achieve the common goal of premier customer service to our customers
- Associate’s degree Minimum, Bachelors preferred in Manufacturing, Engineering or Construction
- Operations background preferred in valves, pumps, tanks or related systems
- 5-7 years progressively responsible experience, PMP a plus
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail balanced by the ability to prioritize
- Proficiency with ERP System (ideally Epicor), Outlook, PDF tools, and MS Office
- Math skills required, including basic algebra and ability to read graphs
- Ability to interpret drawings/specifications and generate BOMs, CAD Experience a plus
- Experience working with customers in defining product needs
- Ability to problem solve to arrive at the best solution
- Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills
- Strong project and time management skills; may be required to attend additional PM training
- Ability to multitask between multiple projects, quotes, training and other job duties as assigned
- Proficient computer skills required
- Transportation; may be required to make a site visit, or travel to off-site training
