Job Purpose & Goal:
We are seeking a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New York State to lead and manage our in-house engineering division. This position will serve as both Project Manager and technical lead, responsible for delivering high-quality drainage designs, supporting construction operations, and driving the growth of our engineering service offerings.
The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical leadership, operational efficiency, and business development acumen. This role is critical in expanding our consulting capabilities, enhancing client relationships, and identifying new revenue opportunities for engineering services within and beyond our existing customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical & Project Management
•Lead the design of agricultural drainage systems, including layout, mapping, hydraulic calculations, and documentation.
•Manage the full project lifecycle from initial scoping through to final delivery.
•Ensure engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications.
•Provide field support and collaborate with construction teams to ensure design integrity and successful implementation.
Business Development & Service Expansion
•Identify and pursue new consulting opportunities and service offerings within the areas of drainage, water management, site planning, and regulatory compliance.
•Support proposal development and client engagement efforts alongside the sales team.
•Develop technical scopes of work, budgets, and timelines for new projects and partnerships.
•Cultivate relationships with landowners, contractors, developers, and government agencies to expand engineering service demand.
•Monitor market trends and clients’ needs to propose and pilot new engineering offerings that align with the company’s strategic goals.
Leadership & Team Development
•Lead and mentor junior engineers and designers.
•Implement standardized workflows and quality control processes.
•Support recruitment and development of future team members.
Cross Departmental Support
•Collaborate with sales, construction, and executive teams to align engineering output with broader project goals and client expectations.
•Serve as a subject matter expert in drainage and water management for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
•Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in New York State (required).
•8+ years of relevant experience in civil, agricultural, or environmental engineering, with a focus on water and drainage systems.
•Candidates with 5–7 years of experience and demonstrated leadership in similar roles will also be considered.
•Proven project management skills and experience leading technical teams.
•Experience in business development or consulting, with demonstrated ability to build client relationships and generate new project opportunities.
•Strong technical writing, proposal development, and presentation skills.
•Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS tools.
•Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
