We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Project Lead. This role can be based either at our Scully Mine site in Labrador West, NL, or at our office in St. John’s, NL.
Please note that if the position is based in St. John’s, it will require frequent travel to the Scully Mine site, with visit durations varying depending on project needs. Preference will be given to candidates who are willing to relocate to Labrador West.
Job Responsibilities:
•Works with project owners and stakeholders to deliver value added projects to support Tacora’s strategic objectives by ensuring overall project scope of services and scope of work is performed in a safe, cost effective and timely manner that meets and/or exceeds the project owners expectations
•Supports line management with formulating a scope and business case of a capital project to solve a particular problem or exploit an opportunity
•Ensures stakeholders are involved at all stages of project delivery to ensure business objectives and project goals are achieved
•Manages a portfolio of projects ranging in dollar value, complexity and duration
•Creates and manages the project budget as well as completes 13-week cashflow forecasting
•Assists procurement in formulating a scope of work to be part of a RFP/RFQ
•Acts as the lead in Owner’s teams for EPCM and Turnkey projects ensuring successful delivery by delivery partners
•Manages the preparation and implementation of projects at all stages of the project life cycle
•Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks
•Compiles status reports and modifies schedules or plans as required
•Reviews/approves the work plan of an external service provider or consultancy contracted to execute the project
•Conducts risk assessment and puts in place action plans to mitigate risks
•Monitors project activities to ensure the currency, quality, and integrity of information, while providing consistency in content across the organization
•Complies with standards, frameworks, and procedures for project reporting and documentation
•Conducts a timely and efficient close out of the project
•Other additional duties as required
Skills and Qualifications:
•Undergraduate degree or Diploma in Engineering, Business, or Engineering Technology. Candidates with other combinations of skills and experience may be considered.
•PMP certification is considered an asset, but not required
•8-10 years of progressive capital project management experience, preferably within the mining sector
•Exposure and use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software in raising work order requests, raising purchase requisitions, purchase orders approvals, goods / service receipts and invoice approvals
•Experience in supporting procurement activities as part of projects including RFPs/Qs and contracts
•Thorough understanding of operational readiness, and management of change (MOCs) processes
•Proficiency in Project Planning software such as Primevera, MS project, or other detailed planning tools
•Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
•Alignment with Tacora’s core values

•Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Required)
