Position Summary
This position will be responsible for assisting the various departments within Martin Marietta’s Asphalt & Paving Division. While paving is the primary focus within Martin Marietta A&P, construction management within individual projects is a project managers primary responsibility. Project laborers will be trusted to execute their daily tasks as coordinated with the project manager as well as engage in learning the overall elements of the construction industry.
Responsibilities
•Meet and interact with crews daily before the shift begins. Ensure the crew has what they need for the day or at least to start the day.
•Observing and interacting with various professionals related to the construction field including owners, designers, subcontractors, and vendors.
•Completing, updating and distributing project management communications of various types such as, safety inspections, material and labor logs, fill out various construction logs and inventory of consumables.
•Log daily measurements of the areas, basic quantity collections.
•Enter daily quantities collected, distribute notes and photos of the project as needed.
•Learn about traffic control setups (Typical Set Up’s & MHTs).
•Equip yourself with the required documentation to maintain project compliance.
•Work with the foreman assigned to the project to support their needs.
•Coordinate with onsite crews both internal and external.
•Keep an eye out for weather (rain / lighting).
•Enforce proper PPE standards.
•Manage street postings (ensure parked cars are addressed/towed prior to work taking place)
•Help manage trucks: Communicate and direct throughout the day and sign out at the end of day.
•Coordinate porta-john location and maintenance with assigned vendor.
•Be honest and approachable with everyone you deal with.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•Excellent verbal communication (English Required Bi Lingual a plus)
•Work with others as a team player
•Ability to collaborate with a team and execute tasks independently
•Ability to interact with subcontractors, suppliers, and designers while developing relationships.
•Proficient in Windows and MS 365 Suite.
Minimum Education and Experience
•Previous experience in construction, preferable with asphalt or paving
•High School Diploma or equivalent required
