Job Summary:
Our team is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer for SCADA who is eager to learn and will support owner project planning and design review activities with our project management and EPC groups. Coordinating the successful implementation of project specific EPC designs utilizing existing plant SCADA design standards developed by our Operations SCADA team. Supporting the Senior SCADA Engineer and ensuring that SCADA systems have been designed per project requirements to allow the Operations SCADA team to successfully commission the system. This position is in Dallas or Chicago and provides a perfect opportunity for a professional looking for interesting work within a small team, the ability to expand their experience in technical SCADA project management, work with various depts of the organization, and contribute to the company's success.
Essential Functions:
- Work with the Operations SCADA group to update SCADA specifications and standards for solar, wind, and energy storage plants to incorporate project specific requirements, and industry standards and lessons learned.
- Perform owner engineer reviews for substation and plant SCADA design 30%, 50%, 90% and IFP/IFC packages and coordinate any deviations from the design and specifications with the Operations SCADA group.
- Coordinate with the Operations SCADA group and IT department for project specific design specifications for fiber optic, meteorological stations, and plant instrumentation to support EPC contracting.
- Coordinating with IT dept. groups on IT Owner cabinet specifications for standard submittals for new projects and future EPC contracting work.
- In collaboration with the Operations SCADA group and Project Management teams, prepare substation and plant SCADA network block diagrams and functional descriptions for EPC contractors.
- Coordinate with EPC project teams and EPC contractors to ensure timely and correct installation of SCADA system equipment including SCADA equipment, meteorological stations, plant instrumentation, field network devices, and fiber optic cabinets.
- Providing support to onsite support during SCADA Commissioning activities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferred.
- 5+ years related to Energy industry SCADA and network architecture, renewable power generation a plus- Knowledge of industrial protocols (Modbus, OPC, DNP3, Ethernet/IP)
- Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize work, as necessary.
- Clear oral and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to work closely with team members of diverse backgrounds.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Position will require sitting for long periods of time.
- Occasionally lifting twenty pounds or more.
- Moderate travel
