The Project Engineer supports and assists estimators, project managers, superintendents, or other project staff in various tasks, as assigned, helping keep commercial construction projects within established goals for safety, quality, timeliness, budget, profitability, ensuring exceptional client experience according to the Wolverine Way, aligned with our core values and strategic direction.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Support project managers, superintendents, and estimators in managing commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
•Assist with preconstruction tasks such as permitting, value engineering, bidding, and subcontractor coordination.
•Participate in project meetings, maintain accurate documentation, and manage project schedules and reports.
•Collaborate with field staff to ensure site safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
•Draft and update site-specific safety plans, and assist with on-site implementation.
•Prepare and track change orders, budget updates, and client communications.
•Engage directly with clients to understand goals and help ensure an exceptional project experience.
•Assist with project closeout tasks, including documentation, punch lists, and LEED certification coordination.
•Champion company safety standards, values, and commitment to diversity and inclusion.
•Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to support smooth project execution.
Qualifications:
•High school diploma or GED equivalent.
•Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering required, or equivalent work experience.
•Must have a valid driver’s license.
Other Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
•Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Procore Project Management Software, and internet research tools. Embraces technology and innovation.
•Pleasant and confident demeanor when dealing with colleagues and clients.
•Strong oral and written communication skills.
•Ability to take direction and learn from more experienced project managers.
•Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment.
