Overview
Canlin Energy is currently seeking a Project Engineer. This role will be responsible for leading and delivering the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of facility and pipeline construction projects. Reporting to the Manager, Project Engineering and located in Calgary, this role will ensure staff and contractors conduct their operational activities in compliance with Canlin standards, programs and government regulations and will be a key contributor in the optimization, expansion and development of our fields.
The Role
•Design and deliver creative and practical solutions for small to medium sized facility and pipeline projects in a safe and efficient manner.
•Safely execute projects as per Canlin’s Project Delivery Process; implement and oversee project quality control and quality assurance.
•Assist operations staff with the trouble-shooting process and equipment problems; manage resolution of project issues including identification of mitigation measures.
•Responsible for pulling together rough concepts and defining a clear scope of work, preparing AFE quality cost estimates, and ensuring projects are resourced appropriately.
•Coordinate and participate in design reviews, PHAs, 3D model reviews, construction kick-off meetings, task risk assessments and pre-start-up safety reviews.
•Review and manage drawings and documentation issued by third party engineering companies to confirm conformance with Canlin’s specifications and applicable codes/regulations.
•Select contractors and supervise on-site inspectors; ensure constructed works are in conformance with design.
•Assist Canlin’s Supply Chain Management group with procuring equipment and project logistics.
•Manage the budget and deadlines for the project, proactively address issues and provide regular project updates to key stakeholders.
•Coordinate with stakeholders such as JV, Land, Regulatory etc. to ensure project requirements are being met.
•Promote a safety leadership culture, upholding Canlin’s Engineering processes/standards and personnel and process Safety initiatives.
•Maintain up-to-date knowledge of corporate and industry standards. Foster a behavior of personal development. Engage internal or external assistance when working outside of individuals “area of expertise”
•Demonstrate workplace safety in design, attitude, and actions.
•Travel to field sites as required.

The Person
•Undergraduate Degree in Engineering or Technical Diploma from an accredited university or Technical Institute.
•Professional designation in Alberta and/or BC (P.Eng or C.E.T).
•Minimum 6 years of project management experience in oil & gas.
•Project experience across BC and Alberta.
•Experience in facility work/modifications (plant, equipment, pipelines, maintenance, abandonments, troubleshooting, optimization, turnarounds), Project Management (small to medium sized projects), estimating, scheduling, construction practices, personnel, and process safety.
•Innovative problem-solving skills with focus on safety and continuous improvement.
•Demonstrated self-starter, adaptable, with ability to multi-task and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
•Good organizational, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
•Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and enthusiastic team player.
•Strong PM skills and experience with an excellent on time and on budget track record and demonstrated understanding of complex processes.
•Must be proficient with applicable codes (ABSA, ASME, CSA, API, NACE) and applicable acts and regulations.
