Perform an intermediate level of project planning, design, cost estimation, and engineering drafting using multiple design and drafting platforms to create engineering and construction plans and estimates.
Utilize and consider information in engineering support and drafting engineering records, third-party civil site plans and utility infrastructure data, traffic control plans, governmental engineering plans, GIS data, highway/railroad crossing permits, right of way drawings and survey information, architectural/mechanical drawings and environmental impacts and permits.
Use Windows-based software, AutoCAD and Civil 3D, ESRI ArcMap GIS, Microsoft suites, Adobe products and general knowledge of plotter equipment to create, edit and maintain data relevant to gas design, reports, system planning for subdivisions, private relocation, industrial meters and government relocation.
Enter construction project data into Maximo related to asset identification, field work orders, job plans, management of change orders and technical reviews.
Create, edits, and maintains GIS, CAD, and data relevant to gas design, reports, and system planning.
Identify potential project constraints, best approach and possible alternative for developing and completing projects.
Consider the impact and necessary requirements of construction easements and private right of way requirements as it pertains to engineering/construction plans and drawings.
Perform project estimation per company standards using proprietary Maximo CUE application by entering, accounting and planning for all aspects of pre-construction, construction, contract labor, restoration, and bill of materials.
Identify and acquire necessary public right-of-way, development, and general permits with city, county, railroad, canal, state and multiple environmental agencies.
Prioritize concurrent pipeline design projects to meet required deadlines on a consistent basis.
Incorporate required quality control measures and perform peer project reviews.
Collaborate with internal and external customers and government agencies to incorporate a diverse set of requirements and constraints into designs and to ensure designs meet the needs of stakeholders.
Generate cost estimates to be used for financial analysis of commercial projects, budgeting, and forecasting for capital expenditures.
Preferred associate’s degree and/or certification; equivalent Computer Aided Design experience required.
Two or more years of experience required in pipeline design, drafting, project management and project estimations. Civil or mechanical engineering design experience preferred.
Working knowledge of civil site planning and design, construction logistics, distribution/transmission pipeline operations, government regulations, pipeline and mechanical design, land development, and utility and architectural design.
Ability to apply basic math, geometry, and convert between various units.
Demonstrated ability in project management and research capability to handle all aspects of design projects from beginning to end.
Organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize projects effectively.
Demonstrated ability with survey notes, right of way information, maps, blueprints, and legal descriptions.
Knowledge of records, files, data systems, numbering systems, filing structures, and available resources. Will retrieve and return records to their appropriate locations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Interpersonal communication skills.
Minimum Applicable driver's license. Requires travel to other company offices and facilities and to job sites.
Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 2 to 3 times a week; up to 30 pounds 3 to 4 times a month.
Stationary for extended periods. Fine motor skills to draw minute details.
Some field visits will be required to ensure correct location, assess site conditions, identify construction constraints and obstacles and discuss timelines.
